I'm a Gen X,er. Born in 67 and grew up in the Glorious era of THE 80. We never had a band that wrote nothing but dark depressing songs like LP. In FACT not many people were dying of this disorder back then and it was never really front and center. I don't know what kicked it into high gear but the 2000,s really saw a upsurge in suicides and LP was smack dab in the middle of it with it's dark scary songs. I can't think of one LP song that does not deal with dark and depressing things. THEY made a career out of feeding off peoples pain and Mike wrote songs that Chester could really associate with which led to his suicide. Why the f**k write songs You know are sending your lead vocalist on a collision course with oblivion..Why not write happy uplifting songs that show the beauty of life and how lucky they all were. Was it just to cash in on the public relating to them.and selling more albums reminding people of their pain and messed up lives. HOW could mike continue to write songs that just reminded chester of the dark place he was in. Watch when they perform. Chester ends each song with a look of suicidal rage in his eyes. I'm surprised actually that LP made it 18 years . They could have saved their lead vocalist but fed him to the meat grinder by continuing to feed his demons.
